Corporate Support Services Department

Welcome to the Corporate Support Services Department web page. Our main focus is to capacitate all staff members within the Municipality in order to meet the challenges brought by the plethora of pieces of new legislation that governs local government affairs. Skills development through training is the main objective currently in this department.

The department currently comprises of the following staff members:

  • Director Corporate Support Services – Vacant
  • Deputy Manager Corporate Support Services
  • Human Resource Officer
  • Secretary
  • Committee Clerk
  • Chief Records Clerk
  • Records Clerk
  • Telephonist/Receptionist
  • Two Office-Cleaners
  • Messenger

The department is also responsible for supervision of support staff to the Speaker. i.e. the Secretary and Policy Advisor.

Transformation Processes

The department has successfully completed the following processes which were the main objectives after the general municipal elections in December 2000:

  • Appointment of Municipal Manager
  • Appointment of managers/directors who report directly to Municipal Manager (with the exception of Director Corporate Support Services)
  • Placement of staff in the new approved organogram
  • Development or compilation of job description in the format of TASK job evaluation system.

As a department responsible to provide support services to other departments, and ensuring that there is an effective and efficient administration of council matters and management of human resources within prescribed legislation, policies and directives, we strive to subscribe to the following

Citizens should be told how national, provincial and local Governments are run, who is in charge as well as costs involved.

Redress
If set standards are not met, citizens should be given an apology with full explanation and a speedy and effective remedy. Complaints should receive a positive response.

Value for Money
Services should be provided economically and efficiently to give citizens best value for money.

Vision
To be the reliant department in provisioning and management of the Corporate Support Services within prescribed legislation, policies and directives in an affordable and effective manner.
